Time to Head Home Day#6

Polar Bear Day#5 Thursday, September 15, 2022
This morning I sought my revenge. I acted like I was going to be really good and sleep all night and was really trying but Uncle Scott woke up at 2am and was complaining about the fan being too cold and I just couldn't hold it. Uncle Scott took me for a walk around 3am and I piddled and made sure everything was secure. I really did try to come back and sleep but the walk really stirred things up so at 4am I insisted that Auntie Ann take me out again. She took me straight to the special bathroom place. This is where I sought me revenge. I did my job but in doing so took us both through the only sticker bush on the entire beach. She had to sit on a rock and pick out all of the stickers off her pants and the leash and my fur. It was wonderful sitting in the cold. I bet she wished she had put on regular pants instead of running around in those pajama pants!
While we were doing our Bible studies we had visitors come by and say hi. I ate my bone while they all talked to Kevin and Tina. After that we decided to go back down to the water. This time Auntie Ann took the 100 foot leash!! It was almost as good as freedom!! First I took care of business. Auntie Ann was embarrassed because I did both jobs right in front of everyone. We played in the water for over an hour. Ron came to visit too but I was very busy saving the stick that Mama kept throwing out on the water. Then I wrestled Uncle Scott down in the sand and stood on him. I got him completely filled with sand so he had to go way out. Auntie Ann was tricky and lured me out with treats. My tummy got wet and that’s when I figured out her evil plan and turned the tables. I stood my found and made her bring me treats.
Then I went to a spot by the rocks where the sand tried to suck me in so I dig and dig and dig and dug. O dig until I was too tired to do anything else. It was fun but disappointing because I never got anywhere!!
Uncle Scott and Auntie Ann left us again and Mama took me for a super long walk. There were so many people!! Everyone loves me and wants to pet me. The only bad part is that Mama is constantly rubbing my slobber around! It’s so annoying! When they got back they had gotten ice cream without me!! They did let me lick their containers though and Auntie Ann even left a little at the bottom for me.
When it was time for bed I knew they were all up to something and they were. They closed all the window shades and started the loud fan. Then Mama gave me a long lecture on how I had to sleep and not bark and be very quiet and let everyone sleep. How horrible was that going to be?!!!

True Wissmiller style we decided we were getting home tonight come hell or high water - or snow storms. We were up and on the road and arrived home at 11pm. Of course it started to snow as we were leaving but it didn't amount to much and we drove out of it pretty quickly. We didn't even make it an hour before Hannah spotted a Casey's and had to stop for breakfast. The temperature was getting warmer and warmer. Hannah drove the entire trip except for three hours in Nebraska/Iowa that Ann drove. Ann read random trivia and site seeing activities along I-80 now that they could get some spotty internet and didn't need to frantically look for routes or campgrounds. They actually may have seen a couple of the structures including the world's largest covered wagon. Once in Iowa, Ann listed all of the rivers in Iowa so we shouted out rivers every time we passed one. The highlights were the Missouri, Mississippi, and North and South Raccoon Rivers. We listened to Louis L'Amour Ride the River for the last five hours and drank root beer floats that Ann had concocted at gas station in Davenport, Iowa. We paid 3.10 for gas in Davenport and it jumped to 3.46 over the border in Illinois. We got home thirty minutes before the book was done and were tempted to stay up and finish it.
It was raining so Scott, Grandpa, and Nana met us in the shop so we could back Blue in. Sadie was there with lots of kisses and Ann gave her the present they had bought.
We had been in Washington,
Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, back to Montana, back to Wyoming, back to
Montana, then back to Idaho, and then through Wyoming, through Nebraska, through Iowa and almost all the way across Illinois.
Rough estimate: 34 Hours | 2,185 miles | 4.5 Days | 7 states
